Tracing the Rainbow Through The Rain
Whoever said “when life hands you lemons, make lemonade” forgot to mention that sometimes you don’t get a knife, juicer, or sugar to do it with. Sometimes you’re left holding a bunch of lemons and if you’re lucky enough to get juice, it’s the lip-puckering kind.
When life puts you in that situation, dear friends, it’s time to trace the rainbow. That’s done by extracting goodness and beauty out of every place possible, even when it’s hard.
- To get, pull, or draw out, usually with special effort, skill, or force
- To deduce
- To derive or obtain
- To take or copy out
- To separate or obtain from a mixture by pressure, distillation, or the like
Chasing My Halo was created for the purpose of helping myself and others draw out life’s beauty even when, and especially when, life isn’t perfect. Sometimes it takes effort and intention to experience the beauty.
It’s for those who aren’t natural-born optimists and need help finding the lovely in life.
It’s for those who are struggling through something and can’t see past the storm to the sunrise.
It’s for the beauty-chasers with everything going right and just want their daily dose of happy.
As someone who knows a thing or two (or twenty) about trials, I’m not by nature an optimist. Through experience (and a whole lot of grace), I’ve learned how to draw out beauty even when it’s hard.
As a reformed perfectionist, I’m still cultivating the best version of myself, but resting in the fact that the messy parts are still beautiful, and maybe even more so.
As a Dental Hygienist turned blogger, I’ll share the some of the things that I’ve learned through these roles, and how I apply them to life.
You can expect from this blog shared stories, experiences, and tips all designed to help you extract beauty and trace the rainbow in your own, unique life. However cloudy or sunny that life is.
As for the girl behind the blog…
Pacific Northwest resident since birth (before #PNW was ever a thing), I feel most at home in or near the Emerald City (Seattle) with my husband and our new baby girl. Faith, family, and friendship are the most important things in the world to me. I’m a wannabe health nut with a horrible sweet tooth, a sports fanatic with a flair for fashion, and a messy control freak. Lover of beauty in all its different forms.
I work as a Dental Hygienist and love my patients, but my passion is writing. In 2014 I took the leap and started Chasing My Halo, which combined that love with my desire to find the good and beautiful, even when life is not.
When I’m not blogging, you can find me on the beach playing volleyball (even if the beach is indoors), sipping a chai latte with friends, relaxing with my fam, pouring over the meaning of a Biblical text, or yelling at the TV during a sporting event.
Six feet of sugar with a redhead’s fuse, I promise to deliver transparency and beauty as I’m chasing my halo.
