Happy New Year’s Eve!
For all the know me (or who have followed this blog for a while), you know that I love this time of year. I get super self-reflective and take a look back at where I’ve come in the last year. More than that, I LOVE fresh starts. Sure, fresh starts can happen any day you desire but there’s something extra cleansing about turning the calendar over to a brand new year.
2016 was kind of a blur. My word of the year was balance and honestly, I failed horribly. First off, I had to look back and see what my word of the year was! You know you probably didn’t succeed in your goal if you don’t even remember what it was in the first place :(. Secondly, that very lack of balance led me to a burnout. These last few months I needed to basically hibernate and rejuvenate. I feel some guilt with that because I love this space I’ve created and connecting with you all, and I don’t want to let that go. On the other hand, it was exactly what I needed and I’m glad I listened because good things are happening as a result.
I want to say I’m back, and my energy is increasing at just the right time:). Before looking ahead, let’s take a little glance back at Chasing My Halo’s highlights of 2016.
Set a thorough plan on how to food prep (and I need to revisit this!).
Wrote a piece on IVF that ended up in the Huffington Post!
Had the best shopping experience that led me to me write 5 Reasons to Use a Personal Shopper.
Accepted and chronicled (what I termed) the Digital Detox challenge for a month.
Played tourist in my own city.
Collaborated with Spruce with Rachel on closet organization. This included my first (legit) video!
Gave my motivational insights from the Olympics.
Got sporty and crafty at the same time with Football Glitter Heels (as part of the #ThursdayHuddleParty Series).
Attended and chronicled my time at Bellevue Fashion Week.
Discussed ways to be a safer driver on these crazy Seattle roads.
Got personal on dealing with addiction.
Ended the year with one of my Cafe Nordo reviews.
Looking back, it was a pretty great year! Although I didn’t finish like I wanted, there was a lot of growth compared to the year before. And that’s really what it’s all about, right?!
What’s in store for 2017? That is the question. Normally, I have my word thought of well in advance but this year I’m struggling with what to pick. I want it to be something that I can measure better (and something I won’t forget). I have some ideas but you’ll have to stay tuned.
Thank you so much for all of your support throughout this last year. Whether you are a loyal reader, a first-timer, a brand or company that I partnered with or a fellow blogger, you are appreciated more than you know!
I look forward to sharing and embarking with you on this next, new year :).
