This Thursday huddle combines two of my loves, football and fashion. Normally, it would seem like they are at odds, and balancing fashion events with football excitement doesn’t feel at all complimentary. However, those times when football and fashion meet are a beautiful thing :).
Here in Seattle, Sundays mean Seahawk games and donning your game day jersey. And Fridays are called Blue Fridays, where we show off our Seahawk spirit. Basically, that’s two days of 7 during football season that I need to figure out what to wear that both looks good, and shouts support for my team.
So when a local store, Victress Apparel, gave me the opportunity to try a pair of their Seahawk Feather Leggings, I couldn’t say yes fast enough. Leggings are everywhere now, and for good reason. They’re comfortable, cute, and can be worn a plethora of ways. But Seahawk feather leggings? This girl’s fan game just got that much stronger :).
I actually had to push these up a little because I like to show some skin with booties, but these are long enough that I could wear them however I want. Coming from a six-foot frame, that’s really saying something! They are also lined on the inside, which made them warmer. After all, it is fall y’all :).
If you’re not a football fan, or you’re not from around here, this pattern is what the Seahawks wear on their uniforms. It was inspired by Pacific Northwest totems (and specifically, the Thunderbird) and nods at the fan base, who are called “12’s”, by putting the feathers in rows of twelve. I love how this team involves the fans so heavily. Plus, it just looks hot. 😉
I also paired this look with a bomber jacket that’s fit for fall, because the temperatures are already dropping, even if my love for the game is on the rise. Bombers and booties are on trend, so why not mix them into my game day (or Blue Friday) wardrobe?
Pants = Seahawk “Feather Leggings” c/o Victress Apparel
Booties – Nordstrom Rack
Bomber Jacket – TopShop
Jersey – NFL.com Limited Kam Chancellor jersey
Throughout the season, I hope to talk about other ways to mix up sports and fashion, but I’m excited to add these leggings into various outfits all. season.long.
If you’re a sports fan, let me know in the comments what your favorite way to rock your team spirit through clothes is!
