Football season is now in full swing and I couldn’t be happier about it :). There were so many exciting, close games over the weekend and it reminded me why I love this game so much. While most Sundays I’m chilling on a couch with my jersey and jeans, every now and again I like to spice up my team spirit with different looks. Some of these I’ll show you this season, and chances are at least one of these looks will include these Seahawk glitter heels. If you remember, eons ago on this blog my friend Martha showed us how she made her DIY Seahawk Glitter Heels. This year, a group of us got together and had a preseason glitter heel DIY party. It was a ton of fun and I’m going to give you everything you need to make your own heels with the team of your choice.
At the end, be sure to check out all the other football related posts linked up for the Thursday Huddle!
How to Make Football Glitter Heels

What you will need:
Either flats or heels, but heels tend to give you more surface area to work with. Patent leather or smooth, hard fabrics tend to work together and crack less than other materials.
To cover the top of your printed out logo. You want to make sure you can see your logo through the tape. Regular masking tape does the job.
To trim your masking tape to cover the logo.
To trace the logos and any area you want glitter to stick.
You want a variety of sizes. Very small for detailed work, and larger for painting the Mod Podge on the body of the shoe.
To remove extra glitter. These work great and the tapered edges are effective for the loose glitter removal.
The finer the glitter, the better the finished product. Normal sized works as well but it just doesn’t look as polished and Etsy-worthy :). These stackable glitter containers were great and I love the colors. For these shoes, I also used a Royal Blue Premium Extra Fine Glitter that I found at my local craft store. The key is getting fine glitter and finding the color you want.
This seals the deal and protects your new feet bling from the elements.
To remove hardened glitter mistakes or cut extra masking tape.
To catch excess glitter and easily funnel back into the glitter jar.
Print out of Logo/Design
Step by Step Instructions
1.) After buying your shoes, print out the correct size logo that you want to fit your shoe. It’s pretty easy but important to get the right fit. I simply googled “Seahawk logo”. If you need ideas for the layout of your shoe, just google (team name) glitter heels, and search the images. Think of the color scheme of your shoes. If you want a dark background (like my royal blue) then you may want to find a logo that is white on the inside with a dark border. If your shoe is going to be a light color, then find a dark logo.
2.) Place the logos on your shoe and cover it with masking tape as smooth as possible.
I found this challenging because of the curve of the shoe. Sometimes it was necessary to cut the tape into smaller pieces or smooth out the wrinkles using the edge of the scissors.
3.) Using a small, tapered paintbrush, trace the logo (or fill in depending on your design) outlines using Modge Podge. I liked to do one color at a time. So I would do Step 3 through 5 with green, then white, silver, and the blue last (letting them dry in between).
4.) Liberally dump on the glitter over the area you applied Modge Podge, and sprinkle off glitter onto your paper plate.
5.) Remove Excess glitter with a sponge brush
6.) Let the shoe dry overnight (in between colors I would give 1-2 hours of drying time)
7.) Spray with the sealant in a well-ventilated area.
8.) Strut at whim 😉
I’ll reveal the final product in an upcoming outfit post, but here is what the “rough draft” before fine-tuning looks like.
You can apply this technique to all kinds of themes. One of the girls at our party went superhero with hers and they looked amazing!
