Morning! Are you all feeling bright-eyed, bushy-tailed, and ready to take on your week? I’m not quite at that level yet (am I ever in the morning?), but I am feeling pretty fine after a great weekend behind me.
Friday night we met for book club, and I’m always in awe of how this friend decorates her place. It’s a mix of cozy and chic, and provided a great back up for us to hang out in! Don’t you think it screams Oscar viewing party?
The book we reviewed (affiliate link) was Christmas Kisses by Linda West, and it was a perfect read for the holidays! Mostly because it was short, really lighthearted, and full of holiday cheer. Basically like a Hallmark Christmas movie in book form :). There aren’t tons of themes or abstract conversations to pull from it, but I was impressed at the questions that were drawn from the book! We ended up going on what I call “Family Man” tangent. You know, the Nicholas Cage movie where he sees what his life would have been if he took another path? It had to do with part of the book, and it’s strange to think how life could have turned out if our paths hadn’t changed course. For the most part, we are all pretty happy about where we are at in life!
If you want a cute, easy, kinda cheesy read, Christmas Kisses is perfect!
The majority of Saturday I was at a continuing education course for my dental hygiene license. It was on dental anesthesia (everyone’s favorite right?) because in Washington State, we give injections often. It’s always an area I want to keep improving in so I can deliver the most painless injections possible, and the lecturer is the guy that writes all the major text books so he knows stuff. The Grand Hyatt was beautiful, even though this was my view for the day. I won’t bore you guys with the details, but there are some exciting things that are coming in the next few years, including nose drops to get your upper teeth numb! Technically, “novocaine” hasn’t been used in forever, but that’s what the general population is familiar with. There are even new types of anesthetic that should make your injections even more painless. That’s what I’m talking about!
I was lucky enough to fit in some hot tubbing with friends that night, which couldn’t have come at a better time. I’ve been pretty sore from being back on the workout wagon! It’s also been pretty chilly lately, and the warmth was more than welcome! Seriously, I have taken 2 baths last week alone 1) because I love them 2) because I was freezing 3) it was National Bubble Bath day, remember?! I added some Epsom Salts too, because I find they soothe sore muscles. What do you add into your bath? If you need ideas here are 30 Homemade Body Scrubs that will fit every mood :).
The rest of my weekend consisted of football. Wild card weekend lived up to its name. The Bengals Steelers game was stressful even for me, and I had no real interest in the outcome (other than I just don’t like the Steelers and wanted the best match up for KC)! I can’t imagine what Bengals fans must feel like. Then my Seahawks played in sub-zero temperatures, and couldn’t get anything going offensively the majority of the game. It was a battle of the defenses, and ours held on just long enough for us to come from behind and take the lead, even though we could have lost it again. I wish I would have had the presence of mind to periscope or video our living room when the Vikings kicker missed that game winning chip shot. I really do feel awful for him, but my overriding emotion is pure joy. On to Carolina!
Aren’t these cookies cute? 10 sports star points if you can connect the numbers with the players! There was also an 92 and 88 that I didn’t get on the plate so extra credit for those :).
I hope you all had a great weekend, and that the feeling carries you through the week!
