Happy Friday friends! Favoring Friday will be back soon, but I’m using this week to focus on the A is for Adelaide #52WeeksA4A Challenge since it’s taken a backseat of late. Instead of picking my favorite personality trait I am focusing on my most useful personality trait.
Trials are part of this life, and no one escapes this earth unscathed. I’m also fully aware that I have a roof over my head, loved ones, a stable marriage and career, and mountains of blessings at my disposal, thank the Lord.
That being said, parts of my life have been extremely hard, and sometimes I wonder how I keep on swimming. Tapping into a strength that is not my own, my most useful personality trait is my resilience.
By definition, resilience is the ability of a substance to spring back into shape, or the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties; toughness.
There are many days where I am smiling and nodding, wearing the mask until I muddle through the storm, but I don’t give up. Even on the days that I really, really want to. Even on the days where I want to curl up and stop trying. Broken dreams leave lasting scars, and just when you think they are healed, they open up and the pain feels new.
There are also some days that I don’t have to wear the mask at all, and I feel genuine happiness regardless of my circumstances. Toughness and resilience to me is putting your chin up and facing each day, whether it’s an easy one or a struggle.
Have I “sprung back” into shape exactly like I was before? I don’t think anybody can go through deep trials without coming away changed. I just hope that my change has plenty of positive mixed in with the negative.
The above Ariana Dancu quote is one of my favorites, not because I think I am that woman yet, but because I know I’m getting there.
What is your favorite personality trait, or the one you find the most useful?
Have a wonderful weekend!
