My Dad has the best hands. Hands that are strong and calloused and have done it all. He is a modern-day MacGyver and sometimes it feels like there is nothing he can’t build or fix! Yet what he’s done with his hands goes well beyond nails and a hammer and leaves a strong legacy of love and support behind. As Father’s Day approaches, I’m grateful for all the ways that he has demonstrated his love in action. He lights up my life and thanks to Energizer I can give a bit of that light back.
With his hands, he helped welcome me into this world
provided a safe place
and guided my first steps with joy on his face.
With his hands, he showed me new things
like a sled going swish
and the art of how to fish.
With his hands, he made the seasons better
hunting for seashells and building campfires at night.
Putting together my first bike and teaching me how to fly a kite.
He made lasting memories as captain of our boat,
and when he showed off on skis he tried not to gloat.
With his hands, loose teeth didn’t stand a chance,
he helped me in sports and went to every Daddy Daughter Dance.
He untangled necklaces and taught me to drive.
Juiced vegetables after a bad accident, thankful I was alive.
With his hands, he helped move me into college
and built me a tool to get me through school.
He helped me with car issues more times than I can count,
and when I got my degree he applauded with a shout! With his hands, he moved me back home
and when I moved out again I knew I wasn’t alone.
He still looked at my car when I’d get stuck,
and helped get my snowmobile out of a rut.
With his hands, he gave me away, and when life delivered a big blow of late
he hugged me when there were no words to say.
Because even though his role has changed, a girl still needs her Dad in many ways.
My Dad is still hands on in my life. He recently built me my first container garden and helped with my car (again)! I am always trying to think of ways to thank him and so I ran down to my neighborhood Target and picked up a mounted headlight. The Energizer Headlight I chose lets him keep his hands free so he can keep building, investigating, fixing, and being the amazing Father he is. I love how bright the light is and all its various settings. I can rest assured that if his eyesight starts to waver his headlight will stay bright!
There are different colors and power strengths available, and it is so portable you can store it anywhere!
This little guy packs a punch and will light up anything!
