Happy Monday! How was your Mother’s Day Weekend? It was beautiful here in the PNW as the weather hinted and teased of the summer that is to come. I was able to spend some time on a friend’s boat and in addition to Mother’s Day festivities got to see Avengers 2 Age of Ultron!
It was great, and although I thought it a bit disjointed/all over the place I thoroughly enjoyed myself. As I usually do during Super Hero movies and TV shows. Here’s why I love letting my geek flag fly:).
1) They take you back to your childhood.
Maybe I wasn’t an avid (or any kind of) comic book reader, but superheroes were a big part of play and imagination.
2) Good always wins.
Things may get crazy, but the justice prevails in the end.
3) The costumes/outfits/superhero gear.
There is a reason I have dressed up as a superhero or villain more than once! It’s playing dress up as adults in the very best way. You can also see my Black Widow costume here.
4) The women are bad a** (not to mention they often have red hair).
5) They tap into your imagination.
Alternate Universes and inheriting super powers are the norm in this genre. For the duration of the movie/show/book, you can tap into the possibilities that you wouldn’t consider in real life. You can be Tony Stark in your own mind and imagine how it would be to really have a super power of your own.
6) Alter Egos
Things aren’t always what they seem in real life or in the world of the superhero. It keeps one on their toes!
7) It’s like a soap opera but better.
The story line keeps going on and on and on, but it’s one you’re not embarrassed by or miss because it’s only on during the day.
