My friends know my love language….themes! Ok, maybe this potluck wasn’t for my benefit, but when one of my friends suggested that we start getting our “college” friends and fams together on a semi-regular basis by doing themed potlucks I did a little internal jump for joy. Pre-kids we did things like this more often with our boyfriends turned fiances, turned husbands, but life gets crazy and time goes by too fast. So my hope is that this intentionality will bring us all together more often.
This month’s theme was Cajun, which turned more into a Mardi Gras theme because, why not?
We picked appetizers, and here was what we decided on!
There was such great food going around, much of which I hadn’t tried before. Muffuletta dip, Gumbo, Jambalaya, Red beans and Rice, Maqu Choux, and an out-of-this-world Bourbon Bread Pudding!
Added a drop (or two) of “Hurricane Jennies” with dollar store mustaches, background jazz, and a lot of laughing, and we ended up with our own Backyard Bourbon Street 🙂 Someday I will get to the real New Orléans, but until that day this one will be a fun memory and teaser for what’s to come.
As life goes on we all keep getting busier and busier. How are you making your friendships a priority? Stay tuned for the next potluck!
