Bella the Bullmastiff

This post was taken over by my fur baby, Bella.

It dawned on me that I’ve never actually formally introduced myself. I know I’ve done some guest posts, and mom talks about me ALL the time so I figured I’d let you in on the beauty behind this whole operation by doing a little get to know you session. Let me know if there is anything else you want to know about me because I love to talk bark about myself!

Name: Bella (Princess Bella was actually on my AKC Paperwork). My mom didn’t realize when she named me that it was the most popular name at the dog park:(.

Breed: Bullmastiff (originally English Mastiffs and English Bulldogs bred together)

Color: Red/fawn (in other words strawberry blonde like my mama)

Age: Does a lady tell? (Sigh) I guess I’m at the point where one should boast about their age. I’m 9 1/2, can you believe it? For my breed nearly 10 is something to brag about! Here’s what I looked like when I was a pup.

Bullmastiff puppy

Favorite Feature: My eyes, they can get me pretty much what I want!

Favorite Food: Anything. Really, anything. Peanut butter tops the list, and this Birthday Cake my mom made last year rocked my world. I heart treats and most of my day is spent either plotting how to get more or dreaming about how they taste!

Favorite Color: Is this a trick question?

Biggest Fear: Shopping carts. Those things are scary! Are they robots? Humans? Predators? What are they really?

Biggest Pet Peeve: Why is this phrase termed “pet” peeve anyway? I find it slightly offensive. Back to the question, my biggest peeve is definitely feet! Feet near me, coming towards me, and the worst of all trying to pet me! I don’t suffer fools and foot petting will NOT be tolerated!

Any life scandals? Way to pull out my skeletons :-(. My mom paid a bit of money to get my pedigree back in the day, and I guess she got a letter saying that there was some relative in my line whose DNA they couldn’t trace perfectly so they took away my pedigree! The shame!! It took me a bit of fetch therapy to get over that one. Oh well, the show life was never my thing anyway. Some of those dogs be crazy!

Guilty pleasure: Stuffed animals. I act like I want to destroy them but really I just like to sleep with them.

IMG_2624

Favorite Sport: Tug of war. Not to brag but I’m amazing! My mom won’t even play with me anymore because it hurts her hands too much (sounds like she just needs to do Cross Fit if you ask me). I used to be good at Fetch, but my hips aren’t what they used to be and I can only go a few rounds.

Skill Set: The basics; sit, down, shake, come and stay (when I want). I can also sit pretty which is really good for us giant breed dogs, stand, “back it up” (reverse), roll over (although this is not my favorite anymore), and can kinda yawn on command.

Favorite Childhood Memory: My first Birthday party was sooo fun! A bunch of my friends came; we bobbed for tennis balls and had cake from a doggie bakery! I have tons of great memories but I’ll save some of them for another day.

056

Biggest Beauty Challenge: Accepting these new gray hairs. Also fitting into some of these dog clothes mom brings home. It’s like she forgets how voluptuous I am!

If there is one thing you could tell the world: I’m not a boxer. I’m a small Bullmastiff.  It’s not that hard! The other (I guess that’s two) is that I’m really a big softy! My bark sounds tough, and I may even sound a little stuck on myself in this interview, but I’m really a big softy that just wants to cuddle.

Your life mantra: I learned this one from one of my many aunties. “No matter what you’ve got to strut”! Don’t have shame in your game. Have a healthy appetite that people can’t understand? Go for it! New toy? Flaunt it! Dog barking at you meanly on the street? Who cares?! “No matter what you’ve got to strut!”

Sorry if that was a little wordy, it’s not every day that I get to express myself like this. Want to meet some other cool canines? Head on over to “Meet the Canines” at Texerin-in-Sydneyland tomorrow for the link up! I also heard rumors that my Stepbrother may join the feline fun next week so that should be a whole lot of interesting ;).

Slobbery Kisses,

Bella

And for a almost-10-year-old, you hardly look a day over 6. Not that I know anything about dogs, but I’m sure it’s nice to hear, right?
