Jewelry. It can make an outfit pop, symbolize your marital status, and showcase your personality. I go through phases where I’m all about accessorizing, and dry spells where my earring holes start to close up because it’s been too long. As a Dental Hygienist, jewelry isn’t practical but I love to play around with it when I can.
Besides my wedding ring (which I cherish!) there is once piece of jewelry that has profound significance, and that I wear on most special occasions.

My Grandmother didn’t leave a lot monetarily when she passed away, but instead left a legacy of love and an enormous hole behind her. And a necklace. A necklace that she knew I liked, but that represents so much more to me every time I put it on. It represents years of wonderful memories, unconditional love and support, her charming character, sense of humor, and her endless generosity.
My one and only tattoo is of a bee that I got with my aunt and cousin (Grandma’s name was Beatrice and she loved … yep.. bees) to represent how much she meant to us. I don’t need a tattoo or necklace to know she is always with me, but it helps. Unlike my tattoo, my necklace is not on my back so it elicits many more smiles.
