I like variety. Especially when it comes to fitness because if I get bored I’ll stop, and once I stop it’s super hard to get going again! I’ve tried obstacle races with the Spartan Dash, running with a half marathon, hot yoga, kickboxing, you name it. I gravitate towards classes in gyms because I can try new things and mix it up without a long-term commitment. So when Fitmob entered the scene here in Seattle I was more than stoked to try it out!
Fitmob is an unlimited monthly pass to all kinds of classes and workout experiences in neighborhoods all over the Seattle (among other) area. When I say all kinds I’m not joking! Their user-friendly website lists countless classes day after day at various fitness centers and studios throughout the community. It literally turned Seattle into my personal gym! I found more kinds of yoga then I knew existed (more on that later), martial arts, pole dancing, Barre, Pilates, Zumba, Dance, Tabata (what?), Aero-kick, and much more. An unlimited monthly pass is $99.00 (with no binding contract), and that’s a great deal when you consider how much it would be to individually try all those classes plus the vast network it gives you access to. Another aspect of Fitmob that I really liked was that if I wasn’t feeling like joining a partnering class/studio I could enjoy the flexibility of just working out at one of the many Fitmob partner gyms. My biggest obstacle for not working out is my laziness, and Fitmob is so convenient that it makes my excuses obsolete!
This last month I wanted to really focus on yoga. I ended up getting pretty sick and not being able to attend as many classes (there were SO many!) as I wanted, but I was able to try a couple of different ones and was mightily impressed. My favorite was Restorative Yoga, a new-to-me, unique practice that focused on stretching and repairing muscles. As a Dental Hygienist this is definitely a class I could benefit from long-term. If you follow my Instagram account you can see they incorporated blankets and bolsters too! The studio was clean and cute, with just the right lighting to get my yoga on. So fun!
In both the yoga classes I attended I was really impressed with the instructors. They were very knowledgeable, helpful, and caring. The Restorative Yoga instructor Storme was unforgettable (in a good way) and her class was definitely one of a kind! I imagine that is the case no matter what Fitmob class you attend. When I was signing up for classes I was able to read about the instructor and the class on the website, as well as read reviews from other mobbers before ever stepping foot in the class. It creates a sense of community and accountability when you see all the smiling mobbers already signed up for your class.
Everything I had access to online I could also do on their app, including scheduling and rating the class. Seriously this app was so easy to use I had no need to return to my computer and I could schedule my classes on the go. It’s also an easy way to make your one payment, no need to juggle different studios because it’s all in one place. They keep adding more and more classes and world-class instructors too, so if you are not finding what you’re looking for (hard to believe) then check back again and search for Parkour or whatever you heart desires to see if it’s on the list. I really did see a class offered in Parkour by the way!
I had a great experience in my yoga classes, everything from the easy check-in and smiling faces to the one of a kind Fitmob workout, and I know that this is the beginning of a beautiful relationship:). As New Year’s approaches I can’t think of a better way to keep me motivated and make my resolutions achievable. I’m looking forward to increasing my fitness level and creating new healthy experiences in Fitmob’s supportive environment. Mob. Sweat. Repeat.
