This weekend was full of ups and downs, but I’m blessed to be alive to take it all in:).
It kicked off with my trying something new, go-karting at Sy Cart. I have gone go-karting before, but more like Bumper cars. Even then I managed to get myself stuck causing the staff to run out and help! Yikes. I also am notoriously not a speedster, and trail behind my friends and family when snowmobiling. So you can see why I was ecstatic when I met my goals of not getting stuck, not coming in last (9th out of 10…aw yeah!), and only hitting the walls 3 times! Success!
Saturday was emotionally draining. We attended a memorial service of a 9-year old who had brain cancer. She was the daughter of a friend of mine, and I had even had her in my Sunday School class years ago. In one word, heartbreaking. This girl was amazingly brave and inspirational, and makes me want to be more of a light to others for all the days I have left. She was a cupcake connoisseur and loved the color pink. We all wore pink and celebrated just the way she would have wanted.
After decompressing for a bit we headed out to celebrate a friend’s Birthday at Uptown Espresso. We played new and old games, and then headed out to Shadowland for some amazing eats. A great, laid-back way to celebrate Natalie!
Sunday we stepped out of our normal Seahawks routine, and went to watch the game at our friend’s house who is an avid Kansas City fan. His man cave is full of KC paraphernalia, not limited to a Jamaal Charles FatHead. Not sure why we thought this would be a good idea. We love the guy, but not the outcome of the game nor the onslaught of gloating that ensued. The highlight was the great breakfast food they set out! It also gave me a reason to try the French Toast Casserole from my Friday Finds post, and it was delicious!
Hours later I am finally returning to normal after catching up and watching Brooklyn 99. Laughter really is good for the soul.
