Happy November! I hope you are all recovering from your sugar hangovers nicely. As my focus shifts from Halloween to Thanksgiving I try to start zeroing in on gratitude. I try to focus on it every month, but November it’s definitely in the forefront. Something I am eternally grateful for in my life are my friendships. They help get me through the highs and lows of this crazy life.
While on the topic, a few weeks ago I mentioned on my Weekly Wishes that I wanted to think of ideas on how to encourage a friend. We all know people who are going through a rough season where everything is going wrong. Heck most of us have been in those periods at some point ourselves. I try to pray and send uplifting texts letting friends know that I’m here, but a situation recently found me looking for something a bit more.
I decided to send an encouragement package, because who doesn’t love to get (non-junk) things in the mail?
First, some uplifting goodies.
Like this journal with a not-so-subliminal message. I inscribed some of my thoughts on the inside cover.
A few uplifting words, quotes and/or Scripture references, and a decadent Godiva bar because this is a feel-good gift after all!
One of the quotes I chose was by Voltaire:
“Life is a shipwreck, but we must not forget to sing in the lifeboats.”
For Scripture: A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. Proverbs 18:24
Lastly, and what I think is the cherry on top, is the personalized card from Treat that reminds my girl she always has a friend who supports her waiting in the wings! The process was very simple. They had some great templates, and all I had to do was add the right pic and voila! Instant smile:).
It was fun putting this all together, and hopefully it will brighten her day. What are some ways that you like to uplift friends or loved ones?
I’m going to try to post something I’m thankful for weekly and link it up on Mondays with Ember Grey’s Grateful Heart. Join the fun and let us know what you’re grateful for!
