Continuing to blend my Weekend Review and Weekly Wishes, at least for the rest of Blogtober!
Seattle was pretty shaken up with the Marysville/Pilchuck shooting on Friday. We were going to carve pumpkins, but I wasn’t in the mood.
Saturday I was out doing some Halloween party prep. I can’t believe I have less than a week to get ready!
Then it was time to go hunt zombies!
It was a VERY stormy night in Seattle, and the power was flickering adding to the spooky mood. We sipped on cider and sugar cookies while waiting for our zombie adventure, and then we were off. Our group of 10 was able to get on one “Hayride” together, and we ended up having the thing to ourselves! An enormous tractor pulled us, and it had some pretty heart pumping/zombie killing tunes blasting through the speakers. I’ve never actually gone paintballing, but it was a blast. The “zombies” looked more like astronaut zombies with their big helmets and protective gear, but they were still fun to try to shoot with the glowing paint balls:). My favorite was the San Fransisco 49er zombie- he received some extra love from our group!
I have mixed feelings about Haunted Houses, and usually the minute I’m inside I just want out. I have decided I like the Haunted Forests better, because they are a little less claustrophobic. The scariest room of this Haunted House was the black fabric room, where no one could see or feel anything but the black pillow of darkness until we felt our way out into the light. I’m officially good on the haunted house fix for at least a couple of years :).
Sunday was a little different from our normal church and football routine. We got up early and headed out to Key Arena where RAM (Remote Access Medical) was serving the community. Eric was in optical, and I of course was hard at work on the dental floor. Kinda crazy scaling and root planing on the same floor I used to watch Gary Payton and Ray Allen play.
The night ended with dinner with my good friend, who seems to find all the good spots in Seattle even if she lives on the Eastside. This time we tried Skillet, which is known for its comfort food and food truck notoriety. After fighting the Capitol Hill parking scene, as soon as I walked inside Skillet smells of home cooked meals filled the air as well as memories of Grandpa’s steak dinners. I had to get the Mac N Cheese of course. It had a great flavor without being too heavy, and the Kale side salad helped fill me up so I can have some of that cheesy goodness for leftovers to make my Monday a little better;). Dessert combined two loves; bread pudding and huckleberries. Yes!
Now for the Weekly Wishes at The Nectar Collective
Last Week’s Wishes
Making a more reasonable goal of 3 days cardio, and daily toning challenges. Failed! Too much party prep and obligations.
Drink 1/2 body weight of water daily. I did better, but I need to be more consistent.
Make progress on D S Nelson’s “Model for Murder” Book. Perhaps I needed set a percentage goal here. I did make progress but not enough.
Plan out Murder Mystery Party. Yes!
Cook actual meals 3-4 nights a week and link up for What I Ate Wednesday (I’ve missed 2 weeks now!) I did link up, but I think I only cooked meals 2 nights last week.
Go sugar-free 2-3 days this week. I did 2!
Be better at walking Bella in the rain. Yes, I walked her a couple of times in the drizzle, and took advantage of dry spells when I could. No way was I going to go out in the storm!
Carve Pumpkins. I’m pretty bummed I failed this one. Just means more to do this week.
Keep on track with #Blogtober14 and #SBMFallStyle challenge on Instagram. Blogtober yes, Style Challenge half way. It’s hard to pull outfits together when you wear scrubs!
