This is my hardest Blogtober prompt yet, and not because I can’t think of fall recipes I like, but because there are far too many! I go pretty crazy for anything pumpkin or comforting, as shown by my Pinterest Autumn board :).
So I’ll tell you what my favorite has been this season so far. In an earlier post I mentioned some friends and I had a cheesy Halloween movie day. We watched Hocus Pocus, and Cara baked some amazing (and very fall) treats. She even gave us more to take home so I can honestly say I had a very big sample size on which I’m basing this all-important decision. She’s on Pinterest quite a bit as well, and here is the recipe she followed. So good! Pumpkin Spice Buttermilk Cake with Cinnamon Cream Cheese Frosting. It will steal your heart (and your calories).
Danielle (whose recipe and pic this is) from CozyCakesCottage even has a video on her blog if you want to make this. Maybe that’s why this cake turned out so good. I confess I’m still dreaming about it:).
I can’t talk about favorite fall recipes without mentioning my favorite fall staple that isn’t food, but drink. Warm apple cider gets me through the fall and winter. My mom leaves it out in a crockpot warming all day around the holidays, or on Football Sundays. It makes me think of home, festivity, fall, and comfort. Here is an example of a crockpot apple cider recipe. I don’t think my Mom makes it with the cloves, but with or without you will get that same great aroma and taste! Side note, someone on Pinterest said if you add Chai it makes an Apple Chider that is delightful. I’m on that this week for sure!!
Really anything with pumpkin, sweet potatoes, or cranberries becomes my favorite well into the new year. I know, I’m so “basic” :).
What are your favorite fall recipes? I’d love to add them to my growing collection! You can find more fall food goodness by checking out all the #Blogtober14 posts from today.
