It’s officially the last day of summer! Although the sun is still shining and it’s fairly warm, the air has that crisp feel to it, and the sun has that amber glow. Ah love it! Obviously I’m not alone given the plethora of posts from bloggers all over praising the wonders of Fall. Being the Type A list person that I am, at the beginning of each season I create a list of all the things I’m hoping to enjoy before the season “kicks the bucket”.
Make Up a Healthier alternative to the pumpkin soy latte.
Shh don’t tell anyone, but I’m not a big fan of Starbucks PSL (and I’m a white girl from Seattle, go figure). The smell of coffee is amazing, but I’m not in love with the taste of it or how it makes my body feel. Chai lattes however, are a dream, and I will play with the added syrups depending on the season. However our beloved Starbucks drinks are loaded with sugar and other fun stuff as seen here (although slightly sensationalized), but I’ve seen some great posts floating around for Homemade PSL like this or this. My goal is to create the same thing but with the Chai.
I know these are pretty standard, but I don’t think I’ve ever done a corn maze except when trying to get out of a haunted house/forest.
Pumpkin patch and carving
Again, an obvious one but as an adult I have never been. Washington State is loaded with them so it’s a shame. Every other year I get the urge to carve pumpkins and I didn’t last year so…:-). This year I made plans to tag along with my friend and her adorable kids because it makes the experience even better, and it sure beats getting my pumpkin at QFC! If you have kids the fall options abound, check this out.
Zombie Safari Paintball Hay Ride
Yes! I did not even know this was a thing! There are 2 different zombie paintball adventures I stumbled upon, and both have associated haunted house/forests as well as a corn maze option attached. I’ll be sending out a FB invite soon, and hope that my zombie obsessed friends will want to come too:-). Zombie Safari Paintball Hay Ride.
I only went on one this summer, and that wasn’t nearly enough. I’m hoping to fit one in early fall and catch the changing leaves while I’m at it.
I was thinking it would be fun to pick our own, but it looks like I may have missed the best season (which I guess is early September). Either way, I am working this soothing sweet drink in as much as possible this season.
Quite a few people dislike the taste of pumpkin. I am not one of them. There is a cornucopia of pumpkin recipes out there and I plan on tackling at least one a week. Sweet, savory, in drinks, or as a snack, the next 2+ months I’ll be seeing orange. I’m not going to be able to attend this year, but there is even a Pumpkin Festival that would be a blast.
Cheesy Halloween movie day/night.
Funny thing. Hours after I had made my list, a girlfriend sent out an invite to this very thing. Baked goods (pumpkin!) and the movie Hocus Pocus. In!
Scary movie marathon
This is really the only time of year that I get a craving for scary movies. I can only take so many, but every October it hits. Last year we even did a Ghost Adventures marathon, which was a lot of fun. Those guys crack me up.
My fur baby is turning 9 and I want to make these dog treats for her special day 🙂
Make Halloween costumes
I want to go as Freya and Eric as Odin from the movie Thor, but the costumes seem complicated. Any ideas are much appreciated!
Shop a Farmer’s market
There is only one month left, and I haven’t gone all summer.
Run a Halloween and/or turkey trot 5K
I loved themed everything, it even makes running more enjoyable!
Always meaningful, so I hope the same amazing hostess is up to her usual magic this year:-).
Picnic Date with the hubs
if time allows, I’m thinking a ferry ride to a neighboring island would be just the thing.
Put together E’s Birthday
Volunteer or give food to a food bank or project of some sort
Decorate the house
Do the #BLOGTOBER14 challenge
Finish 30 days of Praise book in November.
Every year I want to do this and I fail. This is the year!
Complete the Frisky Fall Challenge, or at least the #100byHalloween
Make a DIY Fall decoration
Probably getting overly ambitious here. As is my way:) Hope your Autumn is amazing!
