About this time every week, the Sunday night blues set in. As summer is winding down and the days are getting shorter, they feel even more intense. So before I gear up for a good attitude for the week ahead, here’s a look back at what the weekend had in store. I found a fun way to do this by linking up with Meg, Lisa and Biana for the Weekend Recaps and Monday Mingle! It will give the weekend a proper goodbye;).
Friday I was able to catch up with a lifelong friend over food(of course). I was excited to see her new Cartier Love bracelet she has been wanting for years, and finally received. Its is pretty, just insanely expensive. For those of you that haven’t heard of it, the idea is that your love has the key to the bracelet and once it is screwed on (literally) the only way it comes off is by the person with the key. So they hold the key to your heart, but it’s symbolized by the bracelet. A really expensive bracelet:). I do have to agree that it has a very classy and simple look, so you can wear it with everything. Which is important since you will be wearing it everywhere, all the time. Think of it like an upgraded, adult version of those bff necklaces you wore as a kid. Times a few grand haha. Kidding aside, she deserves it and is one of the hardest working moms I know.
Saturday, besides a medical appointment, was pretty laid back. It was kind of lazy day, which I half love, half loathe because I feel like I should be accomplishing so much more. I did get to enjoy some college football and a much needed nap. Oh, and we went blackberry picking near our house. My husband has been eagerly waiting for a chance to do this, so we grabbed the pup and headed out. Mental note for any future blackberry picking adventures that flip flops and shorts are not the best attire. It has been awhile for me, and I forgot how thorny, and how much underbrush is associated with those little guys. Later on, I had dinner with another girlfriend. It is one of those relationships where you always leave feeling encouraged, and know that the other person completely gets you. It was good soul food even if the meal was disappointing!
Sunday was indeed a lazy Sunday, it consisted of a whole lot of fantasy football, text trash talking, and a Happy Hour Birthday celebration for a friend at The Matador. This takes me nicely into the Sugar Challenge update, because it has now become a tradition with that group of friends to bring cupcakes to these Happy Hour Celebrations. So there it was, a box of Cupcake Royale goodness, staring me down. Taunting me with its pretty pink packaging and lemon drop cupcakes. Did I give in?
SUGAR CHALLENGE UPDATE WEEK 1
I made it! I mean, it’s only been 7 days, but I’m still standing. I even managed to have some self-control and said no to the Birthday cupcakes. Said no to those daily Chai Lattes I crave so much, and said no to the treat counter at Starbucks! I’m still waiting for those cravings to subside, because they’ve been pretty intense. I actually feel constantly a little dizzy and nauseous, which my husband thinks are withdrawal symptoms. Maybe, maybe not, but I have noticed that (minus the happy hour nachos today) since sugar takes up such a big part of my diet I naturally eat pretty clean when I cut it out. And my overall appetite is less. I just want sugar badly. They say it gets better so I’m looking forward to that day! 7 down 23 to go ;). My plan is to watch a anti-sugar documentary this next week to keep the momentum going.
Hope you all had a great weekend!
