As I sit here drenching my sun-damaged locks in coconut oil by the breeze of the fan, it occurred to me that we have exactly one month of summer left! How does time always fly so fast? It’s a great time to re-evaluate summer bucket lists, and check off all those things you wanted to do or achieve but haven’t made the time for yet. I have two Pinterest Boards dedicated to this summer; Bikini Series Vision Board and the creatively named “Summer” Board :). Pinterest Vision Board Maybe you don’t have your ideas put down anywhere, but I’m sure you’ve thought about things you wanted to do this year. Where are you at? I have had a great summer so far, but here is my list of “if you haven’t done it, get to it!” items. 1.) Pull out that summer wardrobe.
For all you hot year round locations this doesn’t necessarily apply, but for the rest of us this is the time to shine! Crop tops (see my blog Crop Top Love), shorts, white everything, and swimsuits. If it screams sunshine to you, wear it now! If you haven’t had a chance to get out a lot this summer there are probably some great sales going on right now on seasonal clothes. Lauren Conrad has a great blog on different shorts. LC’s Summer Shorts Style Guide And of course www.Polvore.com is a great start for inspiration. Here is one of my summer outfits I will be wearing again in this next month. Shorts: Free People, black tank Michael Stars Flowered wrap by Bellatrix @ Nordstrom Rack. Sunglasses Emilio Pucci. Unfortunately, you can’t see the shoes but they are some cute black wedges (also found at the Rack). 2,) See an outdoor movie This is something that was on my list last year, but that I never got around to. In the Seattle area, we have tons of places that show movies on a projector screen on summer nights. Sometimes there will be surrounding food carts, trivia games, and themed photo booths for extra fun. Here is a link if you are in the Seattle area, and if you are not, then go the Google! 😉 Seattle Summer Outdoor Movie Guide 2014 For a recent date night, the hubs and I saw The Great Gatsby at Movies at the Mural (Seattle Center). It is right under the shadow of the Space Needle and sandwiched by the lights of the EMP and the Chihuly Garden and Glass. So gorgeous!
3.) Get your fill of summer food Make your own popsicles. I have pinned many recipes I want to try.
10 popsicle recipes – great collection of mouth-watering popsicle ideas. I plan on tackling these Chai pops this week. Chai Popsicle Then buy up all the fresh seasonal produce you can like melons and berries (see The Ultimate Summer Melon). 4.) Check out new summer play lists. Here a couple of ones I found this summer. Girl Meets Life GML End of Summer Playlist Tone it Up Summer Motivation Mix Summer Playlist Songza is a great app that I use to find new music based on my mood:) My summer play list is in the works and should be coming soon…
5.) Go on a nature walk/hike
No matter where you live I’m sure there is a park or beach that beckons. Here in the Pacific NW we are lucky to have a myriad of places to choose from. Even though they will still be lovely in the fall, they just look different in the summer months. There are many organized walks from everything from bird watching to tide walks. Or choose your own adventure and trail blaze on your own!
6.) Finish those summer reads
Book club reads can be heavy (at least mine lol). Summer is a great time to unabashedly pull out your fun, but not necessarily IQ enhancing reads. Of course. these can be read year round, but there is something about summertime that makes it legit :).
7.) Plan a girls night That way you can check off things on this list the best way possible. Get dolled up, bring some summer dishes, have your new playlist in the background, and enjoy the longer nights with some ladies you love!
